Dr. Ashish Kapoor is a results-driven medical professional and insurance leader with over 18 years of cross-functional leadership across Life, Health, and Reinsurance sectors in India, the USA, and the UK. Currently serving as Vice President & Chief Underwriting Officer at Canara HSBC Life Insurance, he oversees Retail and Group Underwriting, Fraud Risk, Digital Transformation, and Reinsurance Operations.
A pioneer in Gen AI adoption within the insurance industry, Dr. Kapoor led the development of India's first Gen AI Co-pilot for underwriting, achieving approximately 75% decision automation and significant cost efficiencies. His leadership has consistently delivered measurable results — from driving STP improvements and reducing early claims rates, to transforming underwriting functions into high-performing, tech-enabled units. His efforts have earned him the CEO Award for Outstanding Team of the Year for three consecutive years (2022, 2023, and 2024).
Dr. Kapoor holds an MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, an MBA in Hospital & Health Management, and has completed the Executive Leadership Development Program at the Indian School of Business.
